Job Summary: This position provides exposure to HVAC systems and a fundamental opportunity to learn HVAC controls. Hands on opportunities working with Bartingale Mechanical technicians in the field and in house. Under general supervision the Interns may assist in hardware and software designs of HVAC control and other low voltage systems to meet the intent of the project requirements, and assist with submittals for customers, consultants, field teams and subcontractors. This program is a valuable opportunity for interns to understand the integration of academic learning with the day-to-day processes of business and operational functions. The program will also familiarize interns with the specific skills needed to be successful in HVAC Mechanical company, Required to deliver a "report-out" presentation at the end of internship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development of HVAC equipment drawings, schedules, submittals, sequences of operations, material lists, network layouts, electrical schematics, and as built drawings.
  • Software and graphic programming support
  • Understand agreements and work scope
  • Assist in compiling cost estimates and prepare proposals, selecting hardware designs from several different control vendors
  • Provide assistance to project managers during all project phases.
  • Work with other technicians to provide technical recommendations on projects
  • Assist in providing direction and support to field teams in the installation and execution of contracts
  • Perform material ordering and verification as directed
  • Perform and assist in the commissioning of the controls and associated equipment.
  • Aggressively adhere to the required safety standards and requirements of the company and our customers.
  • Able to travel locally to client work sites. This will vary on project assignment.
  • Perform continuous self-study to maintain a competitive edge in the industry and company's standards, practices, and product lines.
  • Actively participate in programs, policies and initiatives designed to enhance the overall good of the company and corporation.


Experience/Education Requirements:



  • Actively enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program with one or two years of academic training in Controls, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study, or recent graduate.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and an interest in HVAC concepts and business operations.
  • Eager to learn and apply academic training in a professional work setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry programs as required to remain competitive.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity theory and electronic gate logic is desirable.
  • Technical aptitude and advanced computer skills, including MS Office (excel, word, power point), Adobe Writer and Visio.
  • A valid Driver's License and ability to travel to customer work sites as needed.


Work Environment, Hours and Travel: This is a full-time temporary position for Bartingale Mechanical in Eau Claire, WI office, with general working hours from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.
