Kleinschmidt has an hourly, temporary opening for a Scientist Technician to support project teams with field, office, and laboratory tasks in Essex, Connecticut. This is mostly an office-based position with occasional field work.

Salary: $22.00/hour

Who You Are

A self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with an interest in aquatic ecology and a willingness to travel occasionally, good oral and written communication skills, and ability to follow standard operating procedures.

Additional Requirements



  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to engage in safety protocol processes.


About the Position

This temporary position will include processing and managing video data related to fish passage monitoring at hydroelectric dams in Connecticut. Work includes fish identification and enumeration, with emphasis on diadromous species; data entry and QA/QC and reporting; and occasionally supporting field efforts throughout New England.

The start date for this position is in May 2025 and will continue through August 31, 2025, with the option to extend.
