Description

Position Title: Manual Machinist

Reports to: Shop Supervisor

Department: Valve & Mechanical Services

Location: Macon, Georgia

Job Summary:

To work hand in hand with our valve service operations team, executing manual machining methods to assist in valve repair engagements. Must understand materials, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and manual machining techniques.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Makes all set-ups on tooling and machine.
  • Able to run all manual lathe and manual mills in the shop efficiently.
  • Machining parts in a low volume/high mix shop.
  • Machines from prints and can make from samples.
  • Able to machine from bar stock and raw castings.
  • Threading knowledge and 4 Jaw Chuck knowledge needed.
  • Re-machine parts to repair them and still maintain critical dimensions.
  • Maintains excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Participates in Safety, Quality and Activities Committees (if applicable).
  • Final inspection and completion of inspection report.
  • Signing and documenting date compliance sheets.
  • Adherence to all safety, quality, company rules and regulations.


Travel:



  • Overnight travel required.
  • Must be willing to work on site at customer facilities.


Physical Demands:



  • Lift objects weighing up to 40lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Turning and twisting while lifting or moving.
  • Navigate/climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding at client and customer sites. Often times at least 10- 30 feet in the air and sometimes higher.


Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of hands-on machining experience within fast-paced manufacturing settings.
  • Professional communication, interpersonal and customer relations skills are a must.
  • Strong teamwork skills with a proven ability to collaborate optimally in dynamic environments.


Preferred Education & Skills:



  • Experience in the process control industry and/or valve repairs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of analyzing, evaluating, diagnosing, and resolving equipment and process related problems is strongly preferred.
