We have a great opportunity to join our PlayStation Media Team. This role will be essential to the transformation of our web-based framework used to power Media applications on PS5.

As a Sr. Software Development Engineer in the team, you will help redesign and implement the web framework on PS5. You will collaborate with a dedicated browser porting team, adjacent engineering teams, architects, engineers and support staff across PlayStation to build a solid framework and partner solutions.

We encourage innovation and expect developers to take a high level of ownership throughout the software life cycle. Supporting the ongoing growth of our platform.

We work in an Agile Scrum environment with a team of highly engaged engineers. You will contribute to architectural direction for our framework and tooling on PlayStation Platforms. Maintain operational ownership of critical components running in the production environment. Become a subject matter expert and provide strong technical leadership and mentoring.

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will



  • Provide component and system level designs for frameworks and features on PlayStation5 and other PlayStation Platforms.
  • Implement a web-based client-side framework and associated components using C++ and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Implement and manage SDK components that are released to partners.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external tools using C++, JavaScript/TypeScript and other industry relevant languages.
  • Maintain ongoing operational ownership of components deployed to the production environment.
  • Provide developer support to external partners using our SDKs.
  • Perform testing and bug fixing.
  • Perform code reviews.
  • Integrate and maintain Continuous Integration solutions into project pipelines.
  • Become a subject matter expert and provide strong technical leadership.
  • Assist with hiring and training/mentoring of new staff.



Required Skills and Capabilities



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5 + years development in web development and/or client system architecture experience.
  • Experience working with source management system platforms such as Git.
  • Experience in full life-cycle agile software development.
  • Experience in object-oriented analysis and design.
  • Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and implementation approaches.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to build, collaborate and develop strong and positive team relationships.
  • Attention to detail, organization skills, and strong work ethic.
  • You possess a drive and passion for quality with the ability to inspire, excite and motivate other team members.



Your Responsibilities to the Team



  • Have a strong desire to educate others and help people with problems.
  • Lead and develop innovative techniques, design patterns and tools that take advantage of our advanced platform architectures to increase quality and performance on PlayStation platforms.
  • Promote and foster innovation within the team to produce creative solutions to problems.
  • Develop projects that will be the foundation of future projects and client platforms.
  • Analyze software problems and provide practical items to developers.
  • Be able to perform responsibilities with little direction or supervision.
  • Be comfortable speaking to large groups.



Beneficial Experience



  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration pipelines.
  • Experience with development on PlayStation5 or PlayStation4.
  • Experience with Containers (Docker).
  • Experience in developing cross-platform code.
  • Experience with test-driven development.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring others.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$187,700 $281,500 USD
