JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of fieldwork activities, including sampling of soil, water, air, and hazardous materials, in compliance with DOE, DoD, and commercial contract requirements.
  • Operate and maintain environmental monitoring equipment and ensure that data collection is performed accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist in carrying out conventional engineering/scientific tasks (e.g., permit preparation; simple document preparation; boring log preparation; data review)
  • Assist in the development of and completes field tasks (e.g., Site reviews; assessments; sampling; remediation related tasks - system installation, operation and upgrading - and other field services).
  • Oversee the collection, labeling, transportation, and storage of samples for analysis in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform laboratory and field tests to monitor the environment and investigate sources of pollution, including those that affect health, under the direction of an environmental scientist, engineer, or other specialist. May collect samples of gases, soil, water and other materials for testing.
  • Conduct environmental site assessments, inspections, and surveys, identifying potential risks and proposing corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards during all field and laboratory activities.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, including data interpretation and presentation of findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, and project managers to meet project deadlines and ensure successful completion of environmental tasks.
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians, providing training on equipment usage, sampling techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Perform equipment calibrations and troubleshoot any issues with monitoring tools or devices in the field.
  • Assist in preparing regulatory documentation and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws.

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental fieldwork or technician roles, with a focus on DOE and/or DoD projects (required).
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental sampling techniques and monitoring equipment (required).
  • Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOE standards (preferred).
  • Experience preparing technical reports and data presentations (preferred).
  • Must receive a satisfactory pre-hire drug screen and background check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements.
