Job Summary

  • Attend an orientation meeting on Thursday, April 24 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
  • Independently read and rate between 40-60 grant applications and provide detailed feedback on each (between April 26 and May 18); On average each application takes between 10-15 minutes to review.
  • Attend application deliberation meetings Monday, May 19 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 20 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., and Wednesday, May 21 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. (Must be available for at least two of the three deliberation sessions. Preference given to candidates who can attend all three.)
  • Attend one post-deliberation meeting to discuss Partnership for the Arts & Humanities program improvements
Position Summary

The Application Reviewer: Partnership for the Arts & Humanities will assist the Supervisor of the Partnership for the Arts & Humanities and a team of MPS staff and community members in reviewing Partnership for the Arts & Humanities grant applications as well as participating in two deliberation meetings to discuss submitted applications. Supervision Required

Reports to the Supervisor of the Partnership for the Arts & Humanities

Job Requirements

  • High school equivalent student -- second semester freshman or above
  • GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Resident of the City of Milwaukee OR currently enrolled in an MPS high school
  • Must be available for the panel orientation meeting (see above)
  • Must be available for the application deliberation meetings (see above)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong reading and writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage time wisely
  • Interest in and/or familiarity with the arts, grant writing, nonprofit management, etc.
Working Environment

Contributes as a team member to an atmosphere which is friendly, cooperative, efficient and professional. Positively represents MPS and Milwaukee Recreation at meetings and out in the community through respectful and professional communication and interaction.
