Career Opportunity

We are looking for candidates to fill a Product Assurance Specialist position at our Wallops Island, Virginia, station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Perform inspections of navy combat systems using established procedures to verify hardware and software configurations.
  • Perform audits of engineering processes to verify compliance and efficacy.
  • Review test procedures, witness tests of combat systems, and document deviations from test procedures or expected results.
  • Document findings (deviations from specifications), produce reports of findings, calculate metrics, and track findings until resolved.
  • Produce and provide quality assurance training and briefings.
  • Maintain procedures and databases.
  • Identify and apply relevant standards and best practices to inspections and audits.
  • Use MS Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for general correspondence, maintaining documentation, analysis, and reporting.

Travel

  • This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Two years of experience performing audits of Naval combat systems using established procedures and judgment for unusual situations.
  • Experience reviewing test procedures, witnessing testing of combat systems, and recognizing deviations from test procedures or expected results.
  • Experience documenting findings (deviations from specifications), producing reports of findings, calculating metrics, and tracking findings until resolved.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and change packages and completing tasks using standard operating procedures.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Relevant ASQ training/certification is desired.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance highly desired, however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations on base.
  • Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor and/or manager when not in the office.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
  • Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to maneuver in construction zones, around machinery, in maintenance access areas, and on ladders to gain access to items being inspected.
