Work Schedule and Hours
Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday, with occasional hours on evenings and weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines or department priorities. Hybrid remote option may be available at the discretion of the supervisor.

Position Summary
The UNC Asheville Student Accounts Office seeks to provide a high level of support to the University and its stakeholders that is competent, approachable, reliable, empathic, and responsive. The Student Accounts team is responsible for representing these pillars in both attitude and action.
The Student Accounts Manager position manages and facilitates key departmental functions within the Student Accounts Office including; student refunds, student e-commerce systems, billing table management, adherence to reporting and foreign national tax requirements, 1098-T processing, and Payment Card Industry & Data Card Industry compliance.
The position oversees the cashier position and any student workers in the Student Accounts Office.
Duties of this position will include:

  • Assist Director of Student Accounts with team leadership & strategic operational needs.
  • Problem solving and effectively communicating solutions by phone, in person and email related to student accounts.
  • Providing excellent customer service to our students, parents and campus constituents in relation to all student account activities.
  • Management of student accounts receivables reporting as well as and Student Accounts reporting requirements.
  • Liaison between the Student Accounts Office and the following campus departments; Accounting, Athletics, Bookstore, Study Abroad, and Financial Aid.

FLSA Exempt
Required Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor's degree; or Associate's degree and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of related experience.
Demonstrated leadership and ability to work independently with high level of professionalism.
The preferred candidate is customer service oriented, demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, is highly proficient with computer software applications including MS Office, Google Applications, and is a proactive problem solver.
The ideal candidate excels in:

  • Hands on experience with the Ellucian Banner System and more specifically Banner Accounts Receivable.
  • Previous accounting and/or customer service experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the student accounting ledger and billing processes.
  • Demonstrated accounting skills including the ability to review and reconcile transactions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability and aptitude to quickly grasp complex systems and processes.
  • Ability to model values of competency, approachability, empathy, responsiveness, and reliability.
  • Ability to problem solve in a fast paced and flexible work environment.
