Title: Managing Scientist

Location: Bellingham

Job Type: Regular Full-time

What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA seeks a senior-level scientist to join our team of scientists, engineers, biologists, and planners to create and manage habitat restoration projects. This position will support fish passage and habitat restoration planning, analysis, design, and construction projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Responsibilities:

* Performing hydrologic, hydraulic, and geomorphic analyses to support habitat restoration and fish passage projects.

* Managing and participating in the collection of field data; completing complex analyses and calculations independently.

* Preparing design plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for restoration projects independently and with oversight.

* Developing and providing technical review of project work and reports.

* Working directly with conservation districts, non-governmental organizations, tribes and other organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest to complete river and stream restoration projects that restore natural systems and salmon habitat.

* Managing project teams, tasks, and budgets for river and stream restoration projects.

* Assisting with the development of proposals and project scopes and budgets.

* Providing technical mentorship and guidance to junior staff.

* Developing construction planning and observation documentation.

* Providing on-site construction observation and field engineering.

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, geology, chemistry, or related field

* 10 or more years' experience designing river and stream restoration and/or fish passage projects, with a minimum of 5 years of project management experience.

* Construction observation and field engineering experience.

* Large wood placement and engineered log jam design experience.

* Topographic, bathymetric, and/or drone-based field surveying experience.

* Experience supporting proposal efforts along with scope and budget estimating.

* Knowledge of Washington State's environmental planning and regulatory environment and fisheries biology of the Pacific Northwest.

Salary and Other Compensation:

* Salary Range: 115-125k

* Annual Bonus

* Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.

Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:

* Paid Company and Floating Holidays: 7 paid company and 2 floating holidays annually

* Vacation: 2 weeks accrued paid vacation based on length of service. Vacation may vary by level.
