Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking a learning focused, creative and dynamic individual to teach math in a lab setting part-time at the Rice Lake Campus.

  • Instructional assignments typically contain classroom contact hours, advising responsibilities, professional development days, and other activities as assigned. All assignments can be completed within the parameters of the College-wide calendar and typical faculty work-week.

  • Instructor is expected to learn and use new technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Instructor must be able to work non-standard hours including evening and weekend hours. Instructors must be willing to teach in a variety of learning environments including face-to-face, web-conferencing, and hybrid classrooms.
  • Instructors must be able to travel and teach on Northwood Tech campuses besides their home campus if assigned to do so. Driver's license and acceptable insurance coverage are required for bi-weekly expense reimbursement.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Adult Education or Special Needs Education, OR Bachelor's degree with DPI certification in any area taught at Elementary Education or Secondary Education levels AND a total of 3 credits of Math Instruction and/or Teaching Methods or any combination thereof.
  • Candidates must meet WTCS Basic Education instructor certification requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of services available for students with disabilities in a post-secondary environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse economic, social, racial, and ethnic background
  • Problem-solving skills that employ critical thinking
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Ability to contribute to a team environment while maintaining accountability and motivation in self and others
  • Strong customer service skills that focus on diversity, community, and continuous quality improvement

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in the above areas
  • Background in educational diagnosis, assessment, and instructional methodology for the full range of unique learner needs
  • Experience working with at-risk adult students


Salary

FY25 Salary - Professional Tutor - $38.00 / hour
