Overview
Position: Classified End-User Sys Admin
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Salary Range: $64,000 - $74,000 per year
Clearance: Active Q Clearance Required

KeyLogic is seeking a Classified End-User Sys Admin to support the IT program at a major national laboratory. You will provide end-user support with processes for managing and delivering services that are ITIL conformant. You will resolve incidents, service requests, and problems associated with service failures or degradations that are related to hardware and software computing devices (including mobile equipment). Additionally, you will support multi-user rooms (e.g., Skype rooms, classrooms) and video and collaborative technologies.

Computer Field Services provide second-tier, desk-side computer support of computing hardware and software in NM, CA, D.C., and NV. Support is provided in both the unclassified and classified arenas, across the general campus, including in high-security buildings (HSBs)

The operating systems supported include approved and authorized versions of MS Windows, MacOS, and Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu). The hardware supported includes laptops, desktops, thin/zero clients running desktop-as-a-service (DaaS), virtual-desktop infrastructure, and associated peripheral devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and repair of physical and virtual Server based systems.
  • Support assignments to resolve technical issues affecting hardware, operating systems, or applications.
  • Work with vendors or external partners to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Follow instructions for:
    • Maintaining systems by applying Operating System or Application patches.
    • Installing new or replacing hardware.
    • Applying configuration changes to improve or restore system performance.
  • Perform system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Assist users in accessing and using business systems.
  • Provide generalized end-user IT support to enterprise environment.
  • Plan and monitor the optimizing of virtual machine system operation and resource utilization and perform systems capacity analysis and planning.
  • Create and maintain maintenance routines to support operational business needs.
  • Implement approved patch management software for automated and manual installation of OS definition files.
  • Perform patch remediation for all server-based and workstation computer systems, as well as virtual machine master images to ensure all systems comply with government security requirements.
  • Provide provisioning service of persistent virtual machine systems and installation of non-standard software.
  • Partner with networking teams to gain input and agreements with server configuration deployments.
  • Maintain mission capable virtual desktop systems to include assessing and executing priority customer requests to include, but not limited to, increased hard drive space, increased RAM and CPU resources, and configuration of graphics capabilities.
  • Provide technical analysis and recommendations for the sustained operations and product lifecycle updates to management for ongoing business needs and activities related to the information system.
  • Support customer cyber policy in all design, specification, deployment, and maintenance systems.
  • Involvement in project design and implementation of service improvement of tools and technologies under your administration.
  • Work within a team environment and maintain technical expertise in all areas of computing hardware and troubleshooting time-sensitive issues along with evaluating and reporting on new platform technologies and recommending viable and scalable solutions for incremental enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. In lieu of BS degree, 6 years of related experience, or AA in related field + 3 years related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires an Active Dept. of Energy Q-Clearance. An Active DoD Top Secret Clearance may be acceptable.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with automation solutions (PowerShell, testplant, VB, etc) for process improvement efforts
  • Ability to team/collaborate with cyber security teams to develop plans for NIST/IATT controls for implementation of new enhancements.
  • Experience with deploying / configuring Linux environments or connecting windows servers to Linux service providers through middleware configurations.
  • Needs to be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with cloud/VM management technologies (self-service)
