    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Hold an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Adapted PE Endorsement

    2. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and consult with education staff

    REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services

    SUPERVISES: N/A

    POSITION SUMMARY: Provide Adapted physical education services to students with disabilities. These services are assessment, direct individual and group services and indirect services in the form of consultation and monitoring.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Assess and identify an individual student's needs within the realm of Physical Education

    2. Support the General Education PE Teacher with any needed accommodations for students to be successful.

    3. Provide Adapted PE input to the team for developing individual education programs (IEP's) for each qualified student and participate in the IEP meetings with parents

    4. Implement appropriate services and plans to meet IEP goals related to PE

    5. Design and accommodate PE lesson plans that align with State and District standards, and teach parents, teachers, aides or other appropriate personnel to implement them, when appropriate

    6. Collect and record data on relevant IEP goals

    7. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of accommodations/modifications and specialized equipment using observation, data and/or pre-post testing

    8. Manage student behavior during services

    9. Work cooperatively and communicate appropriately with teaching and support staff

    10. Develop and adhere to a daily schedule

    11. Monitor and report student performances and progress

    12. Attend staff meetings and serve on committee as directed

    13. Complete required reports, IEP's and other forms promptly and in an acceptable manner.

    14. Perform other tasks and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor or Director of Student Services

    15. Assists students with developing healthy lifestyle behaviors and social skills

    16. Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field of adapted and regular physical education

    17. Delivers instruction to engage all students and adjusts lessons as indicated by student progress for the purpose of improving their success in academic and interpersonal skills
