THE POSITION

Would you like to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families who are impacted by a gambling or substance use disorder? If so, consider joining the Department of Drug & Alcohol Programs (DDAP) as a Public Health Program Associate 2 in the Bureau of County Program Oversight in the Compulsive and Problem Gambling Section. This position works directly with our Problem Gambling Treatment providers and Single County Authorities (SCAs) by monitoring, guiding, and supporting them in meeting the requirements of our grant agreement as well as providing services to individuals and their families. You will have the opportunity to conduct onsite visits to review client files and billing as you ensure compliance with our grant agreement. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a representative of DDAP, you will perform professional, consultative, and administrative work on behalf of, and throughout the Commonwealth's Gambling Disorder and Drug and Alcohol Treatment and Service System. You will be responsible for planning, developing, and providing technical assistance as well as monitoring programs associated with compulsive and problem gambling treatment and the SCAs. Work involves collecting, organizing, analyzing, and presenting data for planning, developing, and monitoring of public and private programs and initiatives. You will have the opportunity to serve as the project manager, which includes oversight, management, and monitoring of all aspects of the contracted program. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the development of public education
  • Developing recovery support services
  • Supporting the development of prevention and training programs for other departments
  • Participating in workgroups to address gambling related issues
  • Drafting contract language

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report in-office one day per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Public Health Program Associate 1 (commonwealth title);or
  • A bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience in the development, analysis, or monitoring of programs, grants, or contracts in health, human services, social or behavioral services, health care services, or health insurance; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
