JOB DESCRIPTION The Purchasing Clerk will be responsible for processing purchase orders, tracking and expediting delivery to ensure our customers' expectations are exceeded. Essential Job Functions Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to bill of material list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications, price, and delivery method; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders Resolves shipments in error with suppliers Responsible for entering order into vendors order system Authorizes payment for purchases by processing vendor invoices Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents Provides purchasing, planning and control information by collecting acknowledgements and inputting them into the system Provides backup assistance to other buyers as needed Provides all paperwork required by the vendors Updates the Inside Sales team of delivery and status inquiries, expedites as needed Uses various communication tools - telephone, voicemail, computer (Selltis, P-21 system, e-mail, internet and fax) and letters/faxes Maintains an organized filing system Requirements 4 year degree in business or related field preferred 2/6/25, 3:29 PM 1/2 Minimum of 5 years of Purchasing experience Strong organizational, communication and time management skills Strong computer skills with PC's and related software, such as MS Office products Strong analytical and decision-making skills Ability to handle multiple tasks and identify problems in constructive and timely manner Knowledge of project planning, production scheduling, order management and finance Ability to deal with customers and co-workers in a pleasant and professional manner Knowledge of billing and accounting procedures About OTC Industrial Technologies: OTC is one of the largest industrial distributors and service providers in the United States.
