The Gordon-Browne Proton Therapy Center (GBPTC) is a cutting-edge machine utilizing an ultra compact proton therapy unit installed within an existing high-rise building. The continued success of the department requires a motivated physicist capable of working in a patient care critical environment. The Proton Therapy Physicist oversees upgrades, performs alignment and tuning, data analysis, and performs troubleshooting and testing of highly complex equipment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED The position requires a sound basic knowledge of accelerator and proton therapy operations and high levels of communication and multidisciplinary teamwork. The person must be able to work independently and in collaboration with other professionals. A knowledge of building engineering systems compliant with IEC standards and regulatory requirements is preferred. The person should have good basic computer skills including data analysis and software development. Knowledgeable in health care informatics-including the resources, devices and methods to acquire, store and retrieve data. EDUCATION EXPERIENCE At least 3 years hands-on proton therapy experience, preferably with cyclotrons, synchrotrons, beamlines, nozzles, gantries, control systems, ionization chambers and QA detectors, data analysis, and/or building QA software tools.
