THE POSITION

As a State Athletic Commission Inspector, you will have the opportunity to support events in Allegheny and surrounding counties. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will enforce all applicable statutes, regulations, and policies of the Commission at combative sports events, professional wrestling events, and pre-bout weigh-ins. This includes supervising dressing rooms, ensuring each combatant receives the required physicals and is in possession of the required equipment, completing licensing paperwork, and providing instructions to the combatants and their camps.

You will escort assigned combatants to the fighting area and remain ringside at events in order to:

  • Listen to the referee's instructions;
  • Observe the combatant and the care of the combatant;
  • Communicate information as needed to the referee, ringside physician and other commission staff;
  • Observe the conduct and actions of the licensed corner people and take appropriate action;
  • Assist the ringside physician and the paramedics, as necessary.
  • Keep unauthorized personnel out of the fighting area;
  • Escort the combatant back to the dressing room at the end of the fight.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Per-diem employment
  • This position is home headquartered and will support events in Pittsburgh and surrounding counties.
  • Work schedule includes as needed evenings and weekends. Events include athletic boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts.
  • Salary: Pay is $10/unit. Typical events are 10 units = $100

  • Note: Travel may be required to other areas as needed. Mileage will be reimbursed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • High school graduate; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a current Class C Driver's License.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience in combat sports either as a participant or coach.
