Elwyn seeks a Director of Nursing to serve as a key member of the Adult Residential Treatment Facility (RTF-A) management team and to support others in providing normalized, empathic, therapeutic, and preventative health care to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness within a variety of residential settings. This role also encompasses responsibilities for the Group Home Level of Care and Assertive Treatment Programs, ensuring a cohesive approach to care delivery across programs. The Director of Nursing oversees the functions associated with care coordination and the delivery of nursing services while ensuring that both regulatory and clinical practice standards are met. This includes appropriate medical and nursing management of both acute and chronic illnesses--medical and psychiatric alike--as well as fostering a collaborative approach with physicians, Elwyn staff, clinicians, therapists, ancillary care providers, hospital teams, pharmacies, and external vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provides nursing oversight for the Adult Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) programs, Group Home Level of Care, and Assertive Treatment Programs to ensure nursing practices meet regulatory requirements, Elwyn policies, and clinical best practice standards.
  • Ensures that ongoing clinical assessments, care coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration meet client healthcare needs across all programs.
  • Ensures that health care assessments are completed per treatment team directives, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; reviews and ensures client nursing assessments and reports are accurate and complete.
  • Presents healthcare data through observation, interview, clinical assessment, and records review to physicians and the treatment team, ensuring care is aligned across all levels of service.
  • Sets healthcare priorities in accordance with professional judgment, supporting program goals for residential and community-based services.
  • Ensures routine and as-needed health evaluations are conducted for residents in group homes, addressing both physical and mental health needs.
  • Collaborates with group home nurses to create individualized health and wellness plans, ensuring consistency with program goals.
  • Provides health education and training to group home nurses to enhance their ability to support residents' ongoing medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Reviews incident reports and follows up on health-related events to ensure timely resolution and prevention of future issues


Assertive Treatment Program Responsibilities:


  • Oversees nursing services for the Assertive Treatment Program, ensuring the delivery of community-based psychiatric and medical care to program participants.
  • Coordinates with Assertive Treatment Team nurse, including case managers and therapists, to ensure comprehensive care planning.
  • Monitors medication management, adherence, and effectiveness in collaboration with the program psychiatrist and other team members.
  • Provides community outreach and support to participants, including health education and emergency response as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and quality improvement initiatives specific to Assertive Treatment Program goals.
  • Maintains up-to-date inventory of nutritional supplements, medical equipment, personal protective equipment, and medical/dietary supplies for all programs.
  • Executes in collaboration with the Infection Preventionist Nurse, all infection control practices, isolation procedures, and point-of-care testing related to infectious diseases across programs, particularly COVID-19.
  • Provides direct clinical supervision to all nurses employed in the programs and collaborates with operations managers in performance management.
  • Leads the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with organizational and programmatic goals.
  • Provides in-service training and orientation for nursing personnel, focusing on the specific needs of Group Homes, Assertive Treatment Programs.
  • Attends Regional Leadership and Clinical Team Meetings.
  • Partners with the Regional Director to ensure appropriate measures are taken to address nursing/medical care needs.
  • Attend Monthly Nursing Leadership Meetings.
  • Conducts routine scheduled check-ins with all direct reports.
  • And all duties as tasked by the Executive Director of Nursing

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Delaware
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
  • Three (3) years demonstrated experience with increasingly progressive management responsibilities in healthcare operations
  • Five (5) years of clinical experience in acute care hospital; behavioral health experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience executing infection control practices, isolation procedures, and point of care testing related to infectious disease, particularly COVID-19
  • Experience working with individuals suffering from chronic mental illness
  • Experience working with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities preferred
  • Human service experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated excellent planning, analytic, strong time management, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, negotiation, conflict resolution, collaboration, presentation, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience in the use of OneDrive / SharePoint or similar cloud-based groupware, collaboration, and storage computing solutions preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Current CPR certification with ability to perform CPR using agency-trained protocols; ability to perform safe crisis management and medication administration
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills, troubleshooting capability, and ongoing development of staff
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record.
