Wieland is hiring a Strategic Buyer, CAPEX & Strategic Procurement. This role will ensure maximum leverage using the appropriate amount of consolidation of an entity, region, division, and global demand. This position will assume a leadership role in the development and deployment of global category strategies that align with the Company and Business Unit's overall procurement strategy.

The ideal candidate will have strategic negotiation skills, manage multiple commodities, and have multi-facility procurement experience.



Responsibilities

Strategic Buyer, CAPEX & Strategic Procurement Responsibilities:

    Ensure maximum leverage using the appropriate amount of consolidation of an entity, region, division, and global demand.
  • Assume a leadership role in the development and deployment of regional category strategies that align with the Company and Business Unit's overall procurement strategy.
  • Provide leadership for assigned categories through category councils or individual contributions.
  • Engage with functional/business unit stakeholders and other subject matter experts to ensure sourcing strategy is aligned to and capitalizes on supplier's technology/product roadmaps to drive innovation.
  • Implementation of the Wieland global standard processes.
  • Optimization on the total cost of ownership leveraging Fact-based elements (i.e. supplier price breakdown, including processing cost obtained through either internal calculations, external benchmarking, market-driven pricing, etc.)
  • Overall responsibility for identification, evaluation, and the approval process of new suppliers that meet Wieland's performance standards and compliance requirements
  • Develop a team with a broad range of commercial, technical, and organizational skills to ensure high leverage in supplier selection, approval, negotiations, and performance management
  • Work closely with Procurement FP&A resources to design KPIs, track progress, and adjust strategies to ensure continual improvement of Cost and Supply Base performance
  • Drive digitalization of our key suppliers through system integration of transactions and communications.
  • Total Supply Base Performance and Management on Technology Roadmaps, lead-time reduction, Inventory turns, Cost improvement, and Supply Assurance. Implement common Supply Strategies (Inco Terms, Mode, VMI, CRP, etc)
  • Establish long-term, cost-competitive supplier relationships at high-performance standards

Strategic Buyer, CAPEX & Strategic Procurement Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in business or technical-related discipline
  • 7 - 10 years of direct material procurement experience - preferable in a centralized structure
  • Experience in external sub-contract manufacturing processing
  • Ability to travel at least 20% may include international
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office, SAP S4, SAP R3, SAP Ariba and related systems
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lead and/or work well in cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills
  • Strategic Category Planning knowledge
  • Total Cost of Ownership understanding & analysis
  • Highly skilled in Fact-based negotiation
  • Financial Modeling / Analysis expertise.
  • Product & category expertise
  • Ability in Supplier analysis
  • Contract management skills
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Highly skilled in Internal stakeholder collaboration, influencing, and change management
