Overview

The Supervisor, Airworthiness Investigations reports to the Director, Supplier Quality & Investigations, and is responsible for the overall coordination and administration of SRC's Airworthiness investigations program, ensuring an efficient investigation workflow and achieving quality assurance requirements. The position is responsible for the efficient, successful direction, coordination, and administration of the SRC's SMS driven investigation program to maintain levels of quality required for the safety of aircraft operation and to ensure aircraft and component airworthiness.



Responsibilities

    Responsible for the research, generation, and submission of detailed summaries related to investigations, risk analysis of stations and/or vendors, related events, external audits, or inquiries from internal or external departments/agencies/organizations.
  • Leads investigations and/or supervises an assigned airworthiness investigator, of aircraft maintenance operations related to regulatory non-compliance, supplier quality deficiencies and identified areas of risk that involve a deviation from established procedures.
  • Creates and issues investigation written reports, including trend analysis, to the appropriate department/vendor that identifies the noted deficiencies from investigations
  • Produces, presents, and tracks safety investigation reports, recommendations and corrective action plans to assorted audiences, including assisting in preparing the quarterly Safety Management System meetings.
  • Develops improvements to the maintenance policies and procedures based on the conclusions from investigations.
  • Monitor action commitments for completion of corrective actions of recommendations from investigations. This includes maintaining a software-based tracker, ensuring reportable commitments are accomplished and that FAA letters, VDRPs and self-audits are completed timely
  • Participate in the review and analysis of the monthly Continuous Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) program meetings.
  • QA audit support of the Company's audit program is provided to CASS, and in coordination with the Director, Quality Assurance & CASS and the QA Department audit schedule and audit records
  • Serves as the Administrator for the WATCH LIST Working Group. The Administrator is tasked with identifying, prioritizing, documenting each hazard identified on the WATCH LIST. The Administrator will develop and propose mitigation plans for each hazard and will monitor the effectiveness of the mitigation measures and make recommendations to the Review Board for moving each hazard to the successive stages of the WL.
  • Collaborates with maintenance partners (e.g., Engineering, Line Maintenance, Major Maintenance, Quality Control, Maintenance Control, Training Department, Fleet Operations Group, and Maintenance Providers) to assist with the resolution/mitigation of regulatory or procedural related deficiencies and addresses negative trends.
  • Performs Safety Risk Management (SRM) processes, systematically applying management policies, procedures, and practices to the task of analyzing, evaluating, and controlling risks associated with the hazards inherent to aviation operations and under the Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Supports the SAFA and ASAP programs, ensuring any noted errors are resolved and that any negative trends are accounted for and mitigated
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned by the Director, Supplier Quality & Investigations.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or aviation, or equivalent years of experience and A & P certification.
  • A & P certification preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of aviation experience required, with minimum three (3) years aviation inspection/supervision/quality.
  • Two (2) years of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and/or CASS experience required.
  • Mechanic's Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings preferred.
  • Knowledge related to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), IATA Operational safety Audit (IOSA) program, Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) program, and other government regulatory requirements and/or guidance.
  • Familiar with line, overnight and heavy maintenance operations, shop repairs of components, and the associated maintenance program requirements.

Special demands:

  • Must be able to obtain a valid passport as extensive domestic and international travel maybe required.

Skills:

  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to professionally represent the company to internal and/or external entities.
  • Ability to handle multiple duties and to prioritize accordingly.
  • Written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write and present technical reports.
  • Must be proficient with computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; high level of attention to detail; outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as lead the department team members; self-motivated; 'Can do' attitude with a culture of Safety.

Salary Range: $73,000 - $98,500

Financial offer within the stated range will be based on multiple factors to include but not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset.
