Data Engineer (2 Open Roles) - Hybrid in Raleigh or Greensboro or Remote East Coast

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to design, implement, and optimize database systems for efficient data storage, retrieval, and management. This role will be instrumental in a modernization initiative, transitioning from legacy platforms to advanced technologies like Power BI and Snowflake. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office work twice a week in Raleigh or Greensboro.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Lead architecture and design discussions.
  • Mentor junior developers and guide project execution.
  • Ensure engineering solutions align with best practices and architectural principles.
  • Design, develop, test, and review code as part of an Agile team.
  • Provide insights on optimizing project and program objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate engineering risks proactively.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve dependencies and issues.
  • Support users with troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and engineering standards.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning and effort estimation.
  • Help define and maintain documentation and process standards.
Experience & Skills
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and modeling techniques (DVM, Kimball, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud data architecture, including Snowflake and Azure.
  • 5-7 years of experience in report development, preferably using Power BI.
  • 5-7 years of ETL experience with SSIS or similar tools.
  • Strong SQL expertise with structured and semi-structured databases (SQL Server, DB2, MongoDB).
  • Hands-on experience administering Cognos and Power BI.
  • Experience with DataOps.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of production support processes (incident and problem management).
  • Project leadership experience is a plus.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, along with 5-7 years of relevant experience.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
