Assistant Director, International Student & Scholar Services International Student Scholar Services (ISSS) Georgia State University Atlanta Campus The Assistant Director for Scholar Services is a key member of the ISSS leadership team who manages the immigration processes for international faculty/staff sponsorship, contributes to policy and leadership decisions, and updates the director and institutional partners on key trends/updates/issues related to scholar services. This position utilizes Sunapsis software to prepare and submit H, TN, O, and permanent residency petitions, following all USCIS guidelines and regulations. The Assistant Director collects relevant data related to scholar services, supervises and leads all J1 scholar processing, and supports other office services and projects as needed. WHAT MAKES ISSS A GREAT PLACE? * A flexible work environment * Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. * A knowledge-sharing organization that works collaboratively with diverse partners. * Professional development opportunity and mentorship * A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO * Leadership: * o Responsible for assisting the Director (along with Associate Director and Assistant Director for Student Services) in making decisions, providing oversight, determining goals and direction, and representing ISSS to on and off campus partners. * o Update the ISSS director with key data, information about trends/issues/problems, events or activities where attendance or assistance is needed, and help maintain consistency of scholar service and information across all campuses. * * Scholar Services: * o Counsel GSU departments on scholar policy and determine appropriate visa and process for international faculty/staff sponsorship. * o Review and analyze documentation submitted via the Sunapsis system for compliance with all federal, state, USCIS, Dept. of Labor, and Dept. of State laws, regulations and policies, as well as ensure compliance with all GSU departmental and employment policies and procedures. * o Prepare H, TN, O, and E-2 petitions using USCIS governmental forms, following all USCIS guidelines and regulations. * o Direct and administer the application process for employees who have been identified as eligible for permanent residency via an employment-based petition sponsored by GSU. * o Direct referrals to USG immigration attorney as appropriate. * * J-1 Scholars: * o Directly leads and supervises all J1 scholar processing and support. * o Develop and administer J1 policy and procedures, orientation programs, and cultural events and activities for scholars. * * Data & Communication: * o Organize, collect, and provide data related to scholar services at GSU with ISSS, university partners, and federal agencies in order to develop and guide scholar policy and processes, and respond to various requests. * o Regularly manage audits of Sunapsis and institutional data for international scholars. * o Develop and maintain all scholar related eForms, communications, and websites. * * Collaboration: * o Support office services and projects as needed, including international student orientation, International Education Week activities, and student/scholar events. :
Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three years supervisory/management experience; or a Bachelor's degree and one year of related Designated School Official (DSO) experience in international Student Scholar Services (SSS) Preferred Hiring Qualifications: * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Effective organizational skills * Knowledge of federal immigration regulations * Knowledge of university policies * Ability to work with a diverse population * Knowledge of the surrounding community and available resources College/Business Unit
