Career Employer Relations Specialist University Career Services (Clarkston) Georgia State University is committed to supporting students as they navigate and develop plans for career success in their transition from college to career. The Department of University Career Services is seeking a Career Employer Relations Specialist to provide guidance and support for undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students and to assist students in finding meaningful employment. The Career Employer Relations Specialist uses innovative and best-practice approaches to student discernment in professional development, leading to satisfying career options. This position will work with students individually and in groups with career exploration, career development, recruiting preparation, and preparing to be successful in the workplace. The Career Employer Relations Specialist reports to the Associate Director of University Career Services and has a primary office location on the Clarkston campus; however, this role supports all Georgia Perimeter campus locations, and some travel will be required. WHAT MAKES THE University Career Services Department A GREAT PLACE? * A flexible work environment * Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. * A knowledge-sharing organization that works collaboratively with a variety of partners. * Professional development opportunity and mentorship * A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO Essential Functions/Responsibilities * Provide career counseling, career exploration, and career search strategies to individual students and groups. * Develop and conduct career-related presentations using various delivery formats for academic classes, student organizations, and other related campus units. * Promote partnerships, collaborations, and positive relationships to promote the work of university career services to faculty and staff across the Perimeter College campuses and the Georgia State community. * Develop and maintain relationships with employers. * Mount career-related events such as career and job fairs, panels, and networking to connect students with employers. * Develop career services and career counseling approaches for underrepresented student populations, including, but not limited to nontraditional, veterans, and returning students. * Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and college departments to identify, define, and meet student career planning and career search needs, including setting student success goals and objectives. * Contribute to the identification, analysis, and assessment of student success outcomes. Maintain accurate student records and collect data for reporting purposes while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. * Oversee special programs, retention projects, and activities as assigned. * Participate fully in the overall activities of university career services. * Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Previous experience working with associate degree-seeking students or in a college or university setting. Candidates must have knowledge of the career planning and development process, career assessments, job search strategies, general counseling principles, one-on-one and group counseling orientation, problem-solving, public speaking, and training, proficiency with career management software, and the ability to communicate effectively (writing, listening, and speaking).
