We are currently seeking a Production Scheduling &Purchasing Specialist with the following qualifications: Summary of Role: The Production Scheduling and Purchasing Specialist (S&P Specialist) develops, prepares, and maintains production schedules to guide the production activities and resources that achieve maximum efficiency and meet output and timeline objectives. This role gathers data from internal teams to incorporate materials, inventories, resource availability, and delivery commitments into schedules. Monitors daily production results and revises scheduling responsive to changes in the flow of materials, designs, equipment, or other resources. Utilizes ERP system tools to develop and maintain master schedules and generate reporting as well as maintaining raw material inventory needs by ordering and coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of purchased goods. Professional Attributes Production Scheduling:
- Creates a MPS (Master Production Schedule) that satisfies customer and company demands through managed resource utilization; utilizes the MPS for the detailed plant, material, equipment and manpower capacity planning as well as financial planning
- Coordinates with other functional groups to include, Purchasing, Accounting, Project Management, Sales, and Production Manager to ensure that planning activity results in highest possible on-time completion/delivery for customers
- Participates in the structure and creation of project BOMs most efficient for plant routing
- Establishes production schedules based on raw material procurement plans and manufacturing engineering plans
- Provides the sales team with project completion dates based on the MPS information.
- Works with Accounting Team to prepare a backlog report indicating the status of all project timelines and estimated dates of completion
- Analyzes and reports on resource utilization to determine overall resource capacities
- Coordinates MPS through production, determining material availability, identifying actions and solutions required to meet projected delivery requirements
- Prepares production analysis charts and machine load forecasts and labor forecasts
- Follows up on planned vs actual production activity with reports to indicate accuracy
- Utilizes a basic understanding of lean manufacturing and JIT principles including DBR tools to apply in appropriate situations
Purchasing:
- Preparing and issuing purchase orders based on production needs and material inventory
- Monitoring all purchase orders and maintain regular follow-up with all suppliers and vendors
- Assist in monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues and concerns
- Assist in inspecting and evaluating the quality of purchased items and resolving shortcomings
- Preparing reports and maintaining accurate inventory and procurement records
- Evaluating and driving raw material inventory reduction
- Maintain accurate data within ERP system (Vendor Information, Contacts, Pricing, ECT)
- Complying with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards including ISO and BRC requirements to comply with the company's QMS
- Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Five (5) years related experience in planning/scheduling, or Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or a technical field, plus three (3) years experience in planning/scheduling or equivalent required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and some working knowledge of database driven reports
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
