TFE, Inc. is hiring a Sample Receiving Lab Tech II to work at the ARS Analytical laboratory in Port Allen, Louisiana. The ARS Analytical laboratory is a leading provider of radiochemical and stable chemistry analytical services to governmental and commercial clients,

SUMMARY

The Sample Receiving Lab Tech II is responsible for the receipt, tracking, storage and custody of all samples along with documenting anomalies in the receipt of samples. Responsible for entering all sample receipt information into a LIMS system.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Receives samples and completes required documentation of receipt.
  2. Tracks samples received by the laboratory via a LIMS system, which enables the location of samples in the laboratory to be known and documented at all times.
  3. Brings samples to appropriate storage locations and enters the storage location into a LIMS system.
  4. Documents the final disposition of samples via a LIMS system.
  5. Responsible for all Chain of Custody (COC) procedures associated with the receipt of samples.
  6. May assist with pre-analytical sample preparation.
  7. Dispose of samples and document Chain-of-custody samples.
  8. Interface with clients shipping and receiving issues.
  9. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College level coursework in Chemistry or Biology preferred

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of chemical hazards and safety equipment used in laboratory.
  • Basic understanding of good laboratory practices.
  • Ability to accurately document and maintain records.
  • Ability to interact with customers professionally needed. Technician should communicate clearly and establish working relationships with customers.
  • Critical Thinking - Evaluate and interpret data, facts, and information to create unique and creative solutions and proposals.
  • Interpersonal Skills - Able to communicate effectively with different people in varying fields and positions.
  • Teamwork - Work collaboratively not only with members of the organization but with outside clients, customers, and contractors.
  • Organizational Proficiency - Plan, prioritize, and achieve goals to maximize the impact of the role of senior contract specialist.
  • Flexibility/Adaptability - Able to cope and adjust with the inevitable disruptions to the best laid plans.
  • Drive - Motivated to succeed and be a part of the success of the organizations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, sit, bend at the knees and waist, and climb stairs.

Ability to lift 50 pounds independently.

Ability to utilize all physical senses in the workplace.

Ability to wear PPE including safety glasses, chemical protective clothing, and respiratory protection.

Employees may be required to participate in the laboratory spill response program including maintaining HAZWOPER certifications.

Ability to participate in occupational related medical surveillance programs as necessary: respiratory protection, beryllium, lead, HAZWOPER.
