As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. A full-time Post Doc Fellow position in the area of cardiovascular biology is available in the laboratory of Dr. Guo-Chang Fan in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Neurobiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The primary research focus of the Fan lab is to explore the role of immune cells and gut bacterial membrane vesicles in sepsis- and ischemia/reperfusion-triggered cardiovascular remodeling. Specific areas of interest for this position include cardiac residential macrophage proliferation, macrophage polarization, macrophage efferocytosis, and characterizations of probiotic/pathogenic bacteria and their released membrane vesicles in cardiac function and endothelial permeability.
