Job Description:

Provides engineering support for all Operational Technology (OT) and IT systems, networks, and applications used for producing, delivering, and managing utility services to the MU campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for the design, installation, operation, of all Operation Technology (OT) and IT hardware, software, control, and network systems used for reliably producing, delivering, and managing utilities to the campus.
  • Provide engineering and support with the design, installation, operation, upgrades, and expansion of all process controls systems, including Wonderware System Platform, Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell Automation, Johnson Controls Metasys, OSI Pi, and other platforms. Ensure all appliable security updates are applied in addition to program updates to maintain reliability of systems. Identify opportunities for process improvement and system reliability.
  • Provide engineering design, support, installation, and management, of network hardware and software used for securing all OT system. Follow and oversee policies and procedures for securing network assets.
  • Assist with designs, installation, management, and support of expansion, and upgrades of the Utility Process Control (OT) Network infrastructure, including networking devices and cabling infrastructure including fiber optic and copper structured cabling.
  • Provide management and support of data historians including OSI Pi and Wonderware. Assist with development of interfaces, analysis, and visualization of historian and real-time data.
  • Assist with development, enhancement, maintenance, and support of all OT/IT in-house developed desktop, web, database applications, and custom interfaces.
  • Analyze, specify, develop specifications for purchase of OT/IT systems, ensuring compliance with policies and compatibility of systems.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Licensure or certification may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Industrial, or similar) is preferred.
  • Experience with operation and management of OT systems such as SCADA, PLCs, DCS, EMCS, BAS, and HMI platforms.
  • Experience with integration of IT/OT systems.
  • Cybersecurity technical experience with a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in network protocols and communication technologies used in OT environments (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, BACnet, OPC) and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with process controls network devices and cabling infrastructure, including hands-on roles in supporting routers, managed switches, and firewalls.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with software development using object-oriented programming principles, methodologies and languages and database systems.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 yearly

Grade: GGS-013
