Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Enrollment Communications plans, implements and assesses a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the Division of Enrollment Management.

The Director provides leadership and management of strategic communications and integrated marketing services to the campus community and external stakeholders to advance the University's reputation, build the University's brand, drive enrollment, and enhance the University's image through media relations, public relations, brand management, marketing communications, web/digital communications, social media, and creative services in support of the University's vision, mission, goals and core values.

In a broad sense, the Director's primary responsibility will be to tell the story of the college in a manner that captures the vibrancy and appeal of our programs.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an 1890 land-grant doctoral research university dedicated to learning, discovery, and community engagement.

The primary purpose of the Division of Enrollment Management is to effectively manage the current and new student populations to meet the goals of the university. Therefore, the enrollment management unit must communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism and five years of work experience in a related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Extensive knowledge of enrollment management and financial aid processes, leveraging, strong verbal, written, public speaking and organizational skills.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in mass communications.
  • Five (5) years (60 months) of professional work experience in public relations, journalism, social media communications, newspaper reporting, radio/television broadcasting with emphasis on production, or web/digital media.
  • Master's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field OR Bachelor's degree with extensive experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to define goals and objectives, identify target audiences, and measure progress toward communications and marketing goals.
  • Demonstrated strong communications, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with a range of communications principles including messaging, writing, editing, graphic design, visual communications, branding, marketing, advertising, electronic communications, and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and capable of working in a complex matrix management environment.
