Job Summary

Provide basic upkeep and maintenance of 53 outdoor recreation facilities in the City of Milwaukee. Primary responsibilities maintenance support, and facility inspections.

Candidates with experience in park maintenance management who are capable of advancing the care of Milwaukee Recreations outdoor recreation spaces to the next level are encouraged to apply.

Pay $18.50

Hours: 40 per week

Conditions of Employment

  • At least 18 years of age or a high school graduate at time of application.
  • Good physical condition. Seasonal maintenance technician must be able to lift more than 50 pounds for long periods of time.
  • Candidates must possess a valid State of Wisconsin motor vehicle operations license at time of appointment and throughout employment. Candidates must have a good driving record. Driving records will be checked prior to job offer.
  • Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Candidates must sign a release authorizing the City to receive the results of any drug and alcohol tests conducted by previous employers during the past two years if those tests were required by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Other Information

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience operating lawn equipment including mowers and trimmers.
  • Ability to drive trucks with trailers.
Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs to facility buildings and playground structures.
  • Install/assemble fixtures that can be associated with offices, and playgrounds.
  • Assist with the maintenance of work equipment or machinery.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
  • Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order
  • Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair.
  • Paint surfaces or equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Snow removal
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
