Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Serve as supplemental advisor for all ten engineering degree program majors and seven minors; builds collaborative partnerships with department advisors to ensure understanding of program requirements and changes
  • Responsible for providing educational guidance, assistance, and academic advising for students through goal setting, updating degree flowcharts or checklists, and determining appropriate education solutions for a diverse population of engineering students.
  • Evaluate transfer courses for degree applicability, graduation requirements, and maintain and update appropriate student forms for documentation; submit and track accurate and complete student records as required by catalog, laws, campus policies, administrative regulations and ABET requirements for accreditation purposes.
  • Participate in Red Raider Orientation in summer, fall and spring.
  • Participate in events, activities, and online documentation through email, Strive and Student Success Hub designed to improve recruitment, retention, and completion of student degrees including on-campus recruiting events and assisting with commencement three times a year.
  • Assist in responding and resolving student academic concerns via Strive/Student Success Hub.
  • Assist Engineering Opportunities Center Services with student centered service events as assigned
  • Assist students and families who report difficulty through advisement by referring to appropriate resource/campus department.
  • Assist Lead Advisor with creation and update of articulation agreement pathways and crosswalks between TTU Whitacre College of Engineering departments and community colleges.
  • Communicate with transfer students on topics such as articulation agreements, contacts, etc
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with TTU systems, policies and procedures.
