Moogis seeking aManufacturing Engineer Manager to take on a critical role in supporting the Manufacturing Operations Team located in Gilbert, AZ. The primary responsibility will be supporting the development of new product/development manufacturing processes, as well as applying continuous improvement manufacturing technologies to existing or mature production programs. In this role, you'll take ownership and drive results performing challenging and nonroutine manufacturing engineering applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and "out of the box" thinking.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and develop new and emerging technologies in manufacturing engineering and production process development.

  • Determine manufacturing procedures,operation sequencing, writing of detailed operations sheets and work instructions.

  • Hands on approach in supporting continuous improvement efforts for existing production processes.

  • Prepare, monitor, and update engineered or estimated time standards for set up and run hours, man to machine ratios and economic run quantities for each component's processes throughout the entire parts routing.

  • Provide detailed cost estimates for new business capture and process improvement efforts.

  • Leadership in new manufacturing capital equipment evaluation, justification, purchasing and implementation.

  • Daily interaction with a variety of disciplines, including other Moog engineers, technicians, operations, and quality personnel, as well as external suppliers, to solve process related problems and mentor others.

  • Project leadership opportunities assigned by the Group Lead and/or Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

  • Support of production automated manufacturing cells, driving process stability to achieve reduced attended labor and human factor variation. Assignment/Ownership of a dedicated manufacturing cell is likely.

  • Assure compatibility of engineering drawings and specifications with manufacturing and fabrication capabilities by reviewing drawing and making suggestions for changes and revisions to enhance producibility.

  • Provide accurate and useable N/C programming tapes by converting detailed N/C program outlines into specific coded machine instructions. Also assists machine operators with program proveout.

  • Coordinates with various departments and team members to assure the most effective design and use of manufacturing facilities and processes.

  • *Originates and/or makes studies directed towards more efficient manufacturing of parts. Includes recommendations ions for changes in equipment, processes methods, materials and designs.

  • *Follows up jobs during initial stage of manufacturing to ensure processing and effect revisions to tooling and processing as necessary.

  • Prepares rework operation sheets for salvage of discrepant parts. Follows through with corrective action to reduce possibility of reoccurrence of discrepant parts.

  • Establish tooling, gaging and fixture concepts. Review and approve tool, gaging and fixture design drawings. Estimates hours required to design and also fabricate tools and fixtures.

  • May work with Moog vendors to coordinate operation sheets containing outside and inside operations.

  • Ability to aid in producing N/C programs.

  • Assists Group Leader on cost estimating effort on new proposals.

  • May technically direct, guide or train Associate Manufacturing Engineers.

  • Assure the acceptance and practice of fundamental safety principles by employees and management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • At least 5 years of engineering or operations experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in process engineering from raw material to finished goods.

  • Hands on experience setting up and operating machines.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills are required in the form of written, verbal, and presentation.

  • Black Belt and/or Six Sigma Certified, or Lean Certification preferred.

  • Strategic and tactical focus.

  • Ability to work within the confines of capital and expense budgets to maximize capabilities and meet performance objectives.

  • Travel approximately: 10-20%

Salary Range Transparency:

Phoenix, AZ $140,000.00-$160,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
