Summary of Job Duties:The Senior Director of Business Planning and Intelligence provides leadership in developing, implementing, and managing entity-wide and department-level financial and personnel budgets, oversees development of entity-wide and department-level reporting tools and packages, and plays a central role in assisting organizational leadership in making key operational and financial decisions. The Senior Director coordinates multiple regulatory and financial reporting efforts, including development of monthly and quarterly executive-level reporting packages and has direct oversight of the royalty accounting and administration process in addition to other regular financial duties involving appropriate tracking of budgets and actual results in accordance with institutional priorities and practices. Further, the position helps develop and deliver training to department-level fiscal personnel and serves as the primary oversight of these personnel from a central finance perspective.

The Senior Director of Business Planning and Intelligence regularly makes decisions for establishing work priorities and managing activities, coordinates workflow and interactions within the department and with other departments and leads strategic reporting initiatives or special projects. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

The position requires a Master's degree in a relevant discipline plus seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. A Bachelor's degree and either a pertinent professional license or four (4) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the Master's degree. Substitution for a Master's degree does not waive the other requirements, which are in addition to the substitution requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

  • Experience with Workday, preferably with direct experience in development of financial and position budgets.

  • Experience with Anaplan.

  • Previous experience in development of overall entity and departmental budgets.

  • Strong Excel spreadsheet skills.

  • Experience in development of reporting packages and dashboards.

  • Experience with management accounting and internal reporting initiatives.

  • State government or Higher Education experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively alone as well as with a team.

  • Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports to both internal and external personnel.

  • Ability to interpret and apply laws in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP).

  • Physical & mental ability to effectively perform duties & responsibilities related to the job, which may include long & irregular hours of work.

  • Ability to interpret and apply laws in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP).

  • Ability to apply an ethical code and good judgment, and to handle confidential materials and situations with sensitivity and discretion.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to be punctual and dependable.
