Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an A220 Receiving Quality Inspector to join our Team based in Mobile, AL.

The Quality Inspector is responsible for the execution and confirmation of quality inspections as part of the production process with an emphasis on the aircraft structural assemblies and components.

Your working environment:

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Responsible for the execution and confirmation of quality inspections as part of the production process with an emphasis on incoming parts, assemblies, cabin components and tooling. Managing the MRB requirements for discrepant aircraft parts.

Primary Responsibilities

[Incoming Inspection]: 40%

  • Execute technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft in the context of the authorization of manufacturer operation

  • Document the technical inspections performed in SAP and relevant SAL-based IT systems. Support all other relevant aircraft documentation production and verification.

  • Support troubleshooting and participate in Quality Survey requests.

  • Verify documentation for parts delivered to vendor and process corresponding inspection in SAP.

[No-conformance Management]: 30%

  • Compile all technical data of non-conformance in order to launch the SAP-based quality discrepancy sheets for the professional assessment in accordance with the manufacturing engineering documentation.

  • Manage all parts removed from aircraft based on non conformance declaration.

  • Process repair parts returning to vendor

  • Execute Quality operations pertaining to scrapping of noncompliant material

[Aircraft Documentation Production]: 5%

  • Certification of airworthiness parts

  • Certify and process AOG parts

Additional Responsibilities:

Other duties as assigned: 10%

  • Contribution to Quality Department initiatives

  • TFIX tool inspection

  • Coordination between Daher Storekeepers, Logistics, multiple Quality departments, Inventory management team and others.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: Manufacturing based training, logistical analysis, profession communication based skills, office management skills

Education:

  • High School Diploma

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License, an A&P license including inspection authorization is preferred.

Experience:

  • 3 years manufacturing, quality control or logistical experience

  • Preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

  • A&P License (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in the production line.

  • Handling and use of inspection tools of the length measuring techniques (mechanical, optional, electrical).

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Job Dimensions, Contributions to Success:

Quality Receiving is the first opportunity to protect the aircraft on site. Inspection of the Major Component Assemblies, standard parts, repaired parts, First Article Inspections, and management of discrepant parts are all duties incorporated into Quality Receiving roles. Contributing to the protection of the aircraft is dependent upon the flexibility of Quality Inspectors from every department. The ability to adapt to new processes is vital to the success of the program. We are looking for self driven individuals that can work well within a team and function independently .

  • Quality Receiving investigations drive process adaption on and future planning for the success of the A220 Program.

  • The timely execution of inspection processing is what enables the assembly line to achieve their milestones.

  • Quality Receiving must be efficient when reacting to the needs of internal and external customers. The prevention of recurrent issues is an opportunity Quality receiving must deliver on if the A220 Program is to be successful.

  • All level three quality Receiving inspectors are expected to become MRB certified & CAT3 certified.

Quality Receiving will communicate daily with members of the Procurement, Methods , Engineering, Logistics, Ground Handling teams as well as Daher our external logistics provider. All members of the QA Receiving team are expected to communicate effectively with other departments to meet our common goals.

Travel Required:

  • Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.

  • All Receiving inspectors are required to reach level three to perform independent work and the ability to coach others.

  • All Receiving Inspectors are required to become CAT 3 inspectors to certify the airworthiness of parts.

  • All Receiving Inspectors are required to become MRB (Material Review Board) certified.

Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions

Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.

Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.

Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.

Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.

Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.

Shift Requirements: Able to work first shift or second shift based on company needs.

Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions

Space Limitations: Working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet.
