Cornell University, a nationally ranked Ivy League institution, is looking for a Associate Direction, Alumni Engagement (Regional Engagement) to join the SC Johnson College of Business in Ithaca, NY.

The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement (Regional Engagement) plays a pivotal role in strengthening the alumni network of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. This individual will implement a strategic plan to enhance alumni engagement regionally while advancing key College initiatives.

Working closely with volunteer leaders in eight key domestic and four international markets, the Associate Director will cultivate a dynamic alumni community. They will also maintain connections in smaller global markets, providing programmatic support, leadership training, and strategic guidance. Partnering with Central Alumni Affairs and Development (AAD) colleagues-including the Director of International Alumni Affairs-and other university and College stakeholders, they will help expand alumni engagement and drive regional alumni giving participation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional Alumni Engagement: Lead and implement strategic initiatives to strengthen alumni involvement across key domestic and international regions.
  • Volunteer Leadership & Development: Recruit, train, and onboard volunteers for various alumni engagement initiatives. Provide ongoing support, leadership training, succession planning, and recognition.
  • Alumni Network Growth: Identify and cultivate emerging alumni leaders, collaborating with Central Alumni Affairs to support regional and affinity group leadership roles.
  • Event Coordination: Support and execute regional in-person and virtual alumni events, working closely with College and university partners to maximize impact.
  • Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Assist in fiscal year planning, partnering with the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement to develop and manage budgets for regional engagement efforts.
  • Alumni Giving Support: Collaborate with the College's Annual Giving team to engage alumni volunteers and key donors in fundraising initiatives.

This role is ideal for a strategic and innovative thinker with a passion for alumni relations, volunteer management, and community building. The Associate Director will be instrumental in shaping the future of alumni engagement at the SC Johnson College of Business.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience in alumni affairs, public relations, communications, fundraising, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to design and implement alumni engagement and lifelong learning programs.
  • Strong leadership, relationship-building, and volunteer management skills.
  • Understanding of fundraising principles, including donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective group presentations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with desktop applications, databases, social media platforms, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing, with the ability to foster an inclusive environment and advocate for individuals from all backgrounds.
  • Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends; some travel required.

This position is based in Ithaca, NY with a hybrid work arrangement.
