Mayfield Ice Cream is looking for a dynamic Lab Technician to join our Food Safety & Quality Assurance team!

As a key player in our production process, you'll be responsible for conducting rigorous quality and safety tests on our delicious ice cream products, utilizing your expertise in food science or biology. From analyzing samples to maintaining meticulous records, you'll play a vital role in upholding our high standards of excellence. If you have a degree or coursework in food science or biology, along with experience in food and beverage manufacturing, we want to hear from you!

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Food manufacturing, laboratory, food testing, quality assurance, or related work experience required
  • Degree or college coursework in food science, biological science, or related sciences preferred
  • Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment such as SQF, state certification, etc.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Familiarity with or ability to learn all applicable laboratory testing equipment
  • Strong computer skills required - must be able to use Microsoft Outlook and Excel and have the ability to learn and operate internal computer systems
  • Able to identify discrepancies, take appropriate steps to find solutions to problems, and implement solutions
  • Ability to perform both basic and complex math calculations
  • Able to follow laboratory procedures and state and federal regulations regarding the testing of applicable products
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills are a must
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work independently with minimal direct supervision, but also collaborate with other team members and departments, foster good teamwork, and promptly share relevant information with others
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
