About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst, Software to bridge the gap between product strategy and technical execution. This individual will work closely with Product Managers, Engineering Teams, and Clinical Stakeholders to translate complex business needs into clear, structured, and actionable technical requirements. The role will also offer opportunities to work on AI-driven insights and advanced analytics.

A strong analytical mindset is crucial for this role-this person should be able to dive deep into data, identify patterns, uncover insights, and find the 'needle in the haystack' to drive decision-making and optimize solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Requirement Analysis & Technical Translation

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Clinical Experts to understand business needs and convert product requirements into detailed technical specifications.
  • Document user stories, workflows, data models, and system requirements, ensuring clarity and completeness for engineering teams.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure requirements are technically feasible, scalable, and aligned with Guardant Health's broader digital and data strategy.

Data-Driven Insights & Problem Solving

  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and key insights that impact product development and clinical decision-making.
  • Utilize SQL, dashboards, and data analytics tools (like Tableau) to find patterns and drive data-backed product improvements.
  • Work cross-functionally to validate hypotheses, ensuring solutions align with business needs and compliance requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Agile Execution

  • Act as a liaison between business and engineering teams, ensuring alignment on priorities, feasibility, and implementation timelines.
  • Support Agile development processes, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and defining acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure clear documentation and communication across teams, reducing ambiguity and increasing development efficiency.

System & Process Optimization

  • Identify gaps in current systems and propose process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Work on EMR integrations (Epic, OncoEMR, hospital networks) and LIMS (LabVantage preferred) to ensure seamless data flow between healthcare platforms.
  • Help define test cases, validate functionality, and ensure alignment with regulatory and compliance standards (HIPAA, CAP/CLIA, FDA).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Product Manager, or similar role in a software or healthcare tech environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset to identify trends, insights, and inconsistencies.
  • Experience translating high-level product goals into structured technical requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and data analysis tools to support investigative deep dives.
  • Familiarity with APIs, cloud-based architectures (AWS preferred), and software development best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments, writing user stories, and working with engineering teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Life Sciences, Healthcare, or HealthTech industries.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR integrations (Epic, OncoEMR, HL7, FHIR).
  • Understanding of LIMS systems (LabVantage preferred).
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, CAP/CLIA, or FDA compliance.

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $109,900 to $148,410. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment.Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
