SCOPE OF WORK: The International Rescue Committee (IRC), works in the United States welcomes newly arrived refugees and immigrants, supports them in their resettlement, and provides holistic services to help them build new lives in their communities. The Adult Education Supervisor Intern will assist the Adult Education Supervisor with administrative and organizational tasks for Adult ESOL classes. This Intern will work closely with the Adult Education Supervisor to manage data entry, administrative reports, as well as communication with the students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support with compiling data, performing data entry, and assembling information for comprehensive reports in the internal databases, Microsoft spreadsheets and ASISTS
  • Support with the development of outreach materials and conducting outreach phone calls for classes, Workforce Development Workshops, and English class orientations
  • Participate in English Class open enrollment events
  • Call students to follow-up on attendance in English classes
  • Maintain timely and organized physical and virtual student files
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate class orientations and/or workshops

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Get hands-on experience working in Administration for Adult Education Programs
  1. Learn about data tracking and reporting to funders
  1. Build communication and outreach skills with different stakeholders within the IRC office

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Based in the US with US work authorization
  • Enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within the last 2 years
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must be willing to work varied hours in a hybrid setting.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability preferred, preferably in Spanish, French, Arabic, Dari/Farsi, and/or Russian.
  • Ideal candidate will have administrative experience working with immigrants or refugees in a social service setting.
