The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (COM) is seeking a dedicated and experienced medical educator to join our team in the Department of Medical Education. This is a non-tenure earning junior faculty position at the assistant or associate professor of medicine rank. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Foundational Biomedical Sciences. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team of fellow faculty to develop and deliver a competency-based, integrated curriculum. Ideally, candidates will have experience in curricular design and active learning modalities (e.g. case-based and team-based learning). The incumbent will be expected to engage in educational scholarship and will have service responsibilities to the department, college, and university.

The Department of Medical Education consists of a diverse array of faculty with experience in Foundational, Clinical and Librarian Sciences. The mission of the department is to develop, enhance, and evaluate integrated educational programs for students involved in the basic science and clinical curriculum at the College of Medicine. Medical Education Department - College of Medicine Continuing Medical Education funds are also provided by the department to fund professional growth as well as relocation costs, subject to budgetary approval.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. or equivalent from an accredited institution in the foundational biomedical sciences. ABD's will be considered, but all the degree requirements much be completed by the time of appointment.

The candidate's scholarly background and experience must be commensurate with the faculty rank for which the application is submitted.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching biochemistry, cell biology, and/or molecular pharmacology to medical students at an LCME-accredited medical school.

Demonstrated experience in implementing high-quality foundational sciences curricula, including incorporating digital and emerging technology and competency-based assessments.

Evidence of exceptional communication and collaborative skills.
