Supervisor, Accounts Payable

HF Sinclair in Artesia, NM is seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor to oversee Accounts Payable daily transactional functions in a shared service environment with 4-8 direct reports. Also responsible for AP related monthly close tasks.

• Oversee daily AP operations including supervision of staff. Ensures AP department accurately and timely processing the vendor invoices and they are recorded properly and paid in a timely manner; reviewing records to ensure accuracy.
• Reviews payment runs and ensures that the manual checks, wires, and ACH payments
• Monitor the AP KPI for the department and individual processors; identify and address performance issues based on KPI stat. Actively supervise responsible AP group to ensure full employee utilization
• Participate in the monthly Closing process including accruals and clearing SAP error log. Also responsible for various reconciliation including Trade AP Aging Reporting
• Obtain firm understanding of the various payment systems within the company as well as how they interface with SAP. This position will need to be the Subject Matter Expert in AP transactions in SAP
• Monitor GR/IR account to ensure no unpaid/aged transactions
• Ensures vendors receive and complete all appropriate government forms
• Have customer service temperament when handling internal customers as well as external vendors
• Liaises and collaborates across company departments regarding process improvement projects including system implementation or new process development/deployment
• Assists in quarterly and annual audits: Provide internal, SOX and external auditors with information regarding interim & year-end audits inquiries
• Exercise judgement to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and process problems
• Provide training and guidance to internal and external customers, answer questions on AP processes
• Maintain all required reporting work papers as needed and in conjunction with Sarbanes Oxley
• Special assignments or tasks assigned as determined from time to time by management

A minimum of five years of on-the-job experience, one-year supervisory experience and experiences in Accounts Payable accounting are required. Energy industry experience relating to midstream or downstream segment is preferred.

A minimum of a Bachelors degree, preferably in accounting or finance, is required.

Ability to lead AP associates by train & delegate to accountants and administrative staff. Proficient with SAP, spreadsheet & word processing applications; good interpersonal and decision-making skills; knowledge of GAAP, laws and regulations pertaining to AP operations; ability to plan, organize and direct projects (i,e., AP system and process improvements). Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats.

Office based with travel up to 10% travel to Dallas HQ office.
