Milliman is seeking an AI Transformation Lead who is passionate about using the latest in AI to redesign business processes and delivery of value to key stakeholders. This person will work with a diverse range of professionals within the healthcare ecosystem as we embark on a transformative journey to redefine our business processes. This individual will work closely with internal consulting teams and external clients to identify opportunities for process improvement, design innovative solutions, and lead the implementation of Generative AI technologies. The ideal candidate possesses strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of how AI can revolutionize business processes within the healthcare industry.

Job Responsibilities



  • Develop and Execute AI Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of the organization's AI strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and seamless integration into business workflows.
  • Identify and Prioritize AI Opportunities: Identify areas where Generative AI can add value, optimize business processes, and enhance operational efficiency for both internal teams and external clients.
  • Manage AI Initiatives and Teams: Oversee all AI initiatives and manage cross-functional teams, ensuring projects meet timelines, quality standards, and deliver measurable impact.
  • Bridge Technical and Business Teams: Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable strategies and facilitating effective communication.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership: Work closely with senior leadership to navigate organizational shifts, secure stakeholder buy-in at all levels, and communicate progress reports clearly and concisely.
  • Drive Innovative AI Solutions: Develop innovative AI solutions that address client objectives, drive complex problem-solving, and align with long-term business goals.
  • Establish and Monitor KPIs: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress toward strategic goals, evaluate the impact of AI integrations, and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Promote AI Literacy and Innovation: Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by leading workshops and training sessions to promote AI literacy among staff and clients.
  • Stay Current with AI Trends: Stay abreast of the latest developments in Generative AI and industry best practices, providing insights and recommendations relevant to the healthcare sector.
  • Guide Change Management and Client Adoption: Guide clients through the change management process associated with AI integration, providing support during transitions to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and maintaining strong client relationships.


Minimum requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 4 years of experience in either integrating AI/ML technologies into business processes.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams and AI initiatives, ensuring projects meet timelines and quality standards.
  • Strong track record in developing and executing AI strategies that align with organizational goals and drive business transformation.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies and communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leadership and securing stakeholder buy-in at all levels within an organization.
  • Familiarity with the healthcare industry, including regulatory considerations and industry-specific challenges related to AI and Data Science integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide teams through change management processes associated with new tech adoption, ensuring smooth transitions and high adoption rates.
  • A strong commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and promoting AI literacy among staff and clients.
  • Deep understanding of the latest developments in Generative AI and industry best practices, with the ability to provide insights and recommendations that keep the organization at the forefront of AI technology.

  • Payer healthcare claim data experience, eligibility data and healthcare industry knowledge
  • Familiarity with software development practices, cloud technologies (Azure), and working with multiple large data sets (e.g. Azure Synapse, Databricks, Data Lakes, etc.)

The Team

The AI Transformation Lead will join a team that thrives on leveraging generative AI technology, analytics, and data to deliver meaningful business value. This is a team with technical aptitude and analytical prowess that enjoys building efficient and scalable products and processes. Ultimately, we are passionate about effecting change in healthcare. This role will join a mix of software development, actuary, pharmacist, and consulting professionals and work on several different initiatives with a focus on new innovations. We aim to provide everyone a supportive environment, where we foster learning and growth through rewarding challenges.

Location: The person hired for this role will work in a dynamic, hybrid environment, with 3 days per week on-site work required in our Brookfield, WI office on a weekly basis.
