MedStar Health is seeking an Outpatient LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic cardiovascular team at Washington Hospital Center. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in the management and follow-up care of patients with LVADs, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for patients with advanced heart failure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient care for patients with LVADs, including assessment, monitoring, and management of potential complications.

  • Perform thorough patient evaluations, including history taking, physical examinations, and review of relevant diagnostic tests.

  • Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff to create and implement individualized care plans.

  • Educate patients and their families about LVAD therapy, device function, and self-management strategies.

  • Conduct routine follow-up visits, including device checks and addressing any patient concerns or inquiries.

  • Manage medications, including adjustments, refills, and monitoring for side effects or drug interactions.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and enhance care coordination.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).

  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in LVAD technology and best practices in heart failure management.
