What you'll do:

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a passionate, results-driven, Principle Engineer I to drive innovative software design, prototype new capabilities, and mitigate risk on critical common services bank applications. This technical role will be responsible for working with a diverse set of stakeholders to design long term solutions, quickly resolve technical issues, and maintain focus on application capacity and availability. The ideal candidate will be a creative self-motivated technical leader capable of driving new concepts and mitigating risks across a wide array of bank solutions. In this role, the Principle Engineer will also oversee and enforce secure coding, configuration guidelines, and data controls across messaging, job scheduling, and file transfer capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of collaborating with enterprise architecture, technology leadership, and business stakeholders to produce key deliverables tied to the overall department mission.
  • Lead as an SME in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions in accordance with the Product Owner's acceptance criteria and adherence to Enterprise Technology standards and risk management best practices.
  • Technical design, analysis, and support of applications in Common Services architecture including SFTP, SMTP Integration, Messaging, Job Scheduling, Managed File Transfer, Event Management, Elastic Stack, and File Exchange platforms.,
  • Champion secure coding standards, compliance with regulatory requirements, and relevant operational logging and reporting.
  • Establish roadmaps based on product maturity and risk management practices then drive prototype features and software enhancements in alignment with that roadmap.
  • Oversee the technical translation of business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions.

What you'll need:

  • 8 years of experience in software development in an agile/waterfall environment including working with third-party vendors/software solution providers.
  • 8 years of experience IT developmentin the Financial services and or Banking Industry.
  • Strong background as a platform or software environment SME, whom established best-in-class engineering practices, conducted peer code reviews, and stepped in to resolve defects at the code or platform levels.
  • Background with common commercial bank products e.g. BAI, BAI2, MT940, Core Banking APIs, Check Images, Statements, and intraday settlement files including any relevant electronic and batch related platforms in support of these products.
  • Proven track record leveraging and maturing DevOps principles including encouraging proper secure coding standards, testing, and pre-production code scanning.
  • Experience playing a role as a critical member of the technology solution development team ensuring adherence to company methodology, policies, and controls
  • History of delivering upon critical Risk, Audit, or Root cause analysis data gathering reviews when called upon to support a variety of compliance activities.
  • Experience with SQL/Functions/Procedures in transactional database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2.
  • Experience with developing Web-services, HTML UI, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with full stack software development in Azure Web Services environment.
  • Experience with Java, Angular, Ansible, ReactJS, CSS, JavaScript, HTML, BMC Control M, Cleo Harmony SFTP, Elastic Stack, Azure Event Mgt
  • Experience with IT Services Management software such as Service Now
  • Cloud certifications and Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Data Engineering or equivalent work experience
