Powder Coat Operator I

Position Summary:

Under close supervision, loads and unloads product on the paint line. Operates paint guns, assembles packaging, and packages finished product to specifications. Operation is routine and repetitive. May rotate within the powder coat line and throughout the fabrication team as needed to meet customer requirements.

Essential Functions:

  1. Work safely and without injury.
  2. Load and unload product onto the paint line.
  3. Paints product per specifications and work instructions.
  4. Assemble and package a wide variety of complex materials.
  5. Packages product to specification.
  6. May rotate into other positions within the team as required to meet production requirements.
  7. Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
  8. Implements the Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities.
  9. May participate in defining strategies to meet quality objectives and in system reviews within the team.
  10. Participates in team meetings as required (safety, problem-solving, etc.
  11. Problem solves individually or as part of a group as job duties require.
  12. May be required to work overtime.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Up to two years production experience.
  3. Previous paint line experience preferred.

  1. Must possess basic reading, writing, and computation skills.
  2. Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  3. Ability to continuously improve and learn new skills.
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers and visitors.
  6. Ability to effectively problem-solve.
  7. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  8. Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project's completion.
  9. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, verbalize, and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other team members. Conflict resolution. Good interpersonal skills. Good verbal and customer service skills.

Mathematical Skills:

Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required under education requirements.

Physical and Visual Activities:

Standing, Walking, Sitting, Lifting, Carrying, Balancing, Stooping, Reaching, Handling, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Acuity-Far, Acuity-Near, Depth Perception, and Field of Vision.

Physical Demands:

May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. Requires frequent lifting up to 60 pounds for 8-10 hours. May require ability to repetitively push, pull and lift out of power range.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

Must be able to work in a shop environment as job duties require. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, hot temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:

Desktop computer, and operating various shop equipment such as powder coat guns, staple/glue guns, dunnage machine, and basic hand tools.
