Stroke Clinical Program Manager

Under limited supervision is responsible for the management of the Accredited Primary Stroke Center. Provides oversight for the care of Stroke patient throughout the continuum and collaborates with the Stroke leadership team members and collaborates closely with the Stroke Medical Director to ensure comprehensive medical record documentation to reflect clinical treatment, decisions, and diagnoses for inpatients.

Education:

MSN preferred or BSN with a commitment to attain a Master's degree in 5 years.

Licensures/Certifications:

Current registration with the Maryland Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification)

Experience:

Five (5) years of nursing experience. Clinical experience with stroke patients. Experience in clinical program development and management.

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of nursing practice and general administration in order to oversee planning and implementation of patient care and ability to prepare necessary analyses, reports, policies and budgets.
  • Analytical skills necessary to organize and oversee the work of others and to develop and administer sound policies, procedures, budgets and practices that are in alignment with the Joint Commission (TJC) Disease Specific Care and Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System (MIEMSS) COMAR Regulations.
  • Skilled in written and oral communication.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Develops, implements, and ensures achievement of short- and long-term strategic goals.

Financial Management:

  • Manages the Department's budget/prepares variance analysis.
  • Assists with and prepares operating budget and makes recommendations for capital budget in consultation with appropriate Hospital staff.
  • Maintains inventory and analyzes cost of supplies and services.
  • Manages accounts payable issues.
  • Processes payroll for assigned areas.

Human Resource Functions:

  • Manages human resources within established productivity guidelines and the personnel budget.
  • Supports training and development efforts.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships to escalate concerns with employee competencies.
  • Monitors and reviews work performance of the staff/counsels as needed.
  • Interviews and selects personnel
  • Mentors and develops staff to reach potential.
  • Facilitates orientation of new staff
  • Meets or exceeds established targets for employee action/survey results.

Service Excellence

  • Monitors, investigates and responds to customer feedback, modifying systems and processes as needed.
  • Maintains or improves Press Ganey Scores in partnership with unit level leaders
  • Completes and/or reviews monthly patient satisfaction phone calls
  • Meets or exceeds established targets for employee action/survey results
  • Regularly completes in-person multidisciplinary rounds with Core Stroke Team

Quality Initiatives

  • Oversees and is responsible for the data collection of emergency, inpatient, and discharge components for the programs through effective utilization of the electronic hospital medical record.
  • Analyzes program data and designs appropriate Performance Improvement activities, maintains related records and reports.
  • Actively participates in the hospital QI process.
  • Ensures Standards of Practice are met and incorporates compliance with regulatory laws (i.e. - TJC & MIEMSS).
  • Ensures quality and regulatory compliance for the Stroke Program providing education and development opportunities for staff.
  • Communicates as necessary with other Health Center departments to coordinate efforts, resolve operational problems and improve the quality of patient care.
  • Manages the clinical practice of nursing collaborating with other clinical managers.
  • Leads the Stroke Program's TJC and MIEMSS multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful accreditation.
  • Participates in Health Fairs and Community Programs.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activities that have significant impact on patient care.
  • Interprets nursing standards to nursing personnel, other departments, physicians, patients and the community

Pay Range

$78,403.65 - $130,546.00

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
