We're seeking a Senior Accountant to lead our clients expense accounting function, ensuring financial precision and driving operational efficiency. This role offers the chance to be a key contributor, directly impacting their monthly close process and delivering critical financial insights. You'll be instrumental in maintaining compliance, enhancing internal controls, and streamlining workflows, all while contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting & Close:
    • Execute and refine the monthly close process for expense accounts, ensuring adherence to GAAP.
    • Produce comprehensive work papers, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entries.
    • Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
    • Expense Analysis & Control:
      • Conduct in-depth analysis of expense accounts, identifying trends and opportunities for optimization.
      • Ensure accurate expense allocation and reconciliation across departments.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate expense records.
      • Compliance & Internal Controls:
        • Strengthen and maintain internal controls related to expense accounting.
        • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including SOX.
        • Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and responses.
        • Process Optimization & Innovation:
          • Evaluate and enhance existing expense accounting processes, driving efficiency through automation and innovation.
          • Participate in system upgrades and implementations, ensuring seamless data integration.
          • Find and implement AI tools where applicable.
          • Strategic Support:
            • Provide insightful budget-to-actual variance analysis and management reporting.
            • Assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures.
            • Undertake ad-hoc projects as required.
            • Your Qualifications:
              • Competitive salary range of $120,000 to $140,000.
              • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress towards certification is highly valued.
              • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including a strong foundation in public accountingand controllership/close processes.
              • Demonstrated experience with publicly traded companies and SEC reporting requirements, particularly SOX compliance.
              • Strong preference for candidates with experience in the asset management or broader financial services industry.
              • Proficiency in GAAP and accountingsoftware and advanced Excel skills.
              • Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement innovative solutions.
              • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
              • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

                • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
                • licensure and certification requirements;

                With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
