Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire an Intellectual Property Recruiting Manager. Reporting to the senior members of the Attorney Recruiting team, this position will oversee all aspects of non-partner attorney, patent agent, and technical specialist recruitment for the Intellectual Property (IP) group. This includes managing lateral attorney hiring, recruitment of patent agents and technology specialists, intellectual property law student and college recruiting, as well as developing and executing pipeline programming for the IP group across the firm.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our IP practice, working alongside a dynamic team of professionals.

This position will be resident in the following offices with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Silicon Valley, or Washington, DC.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Collaborate closely with firmwide practice group leaders and the human resources business partner to assess and understand the specific hiring needs, strategic goals, and desired candidate profiles for the IP roles
  • Manage lateral non-partner lawyer hiring process for the IP group, focusing on building a strong, diverse, and high performing team
  • Lead recruiting for patent agents and technology specialists, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs
  • Lead and manage 1L IP Fellowship recruitment efforts, fostering strong relationships with law schools and IP-focused students
  • Oversee 2L IP recruiting for the summer associate program, ensuring alignment with firmwide recruitment goals and IP-specific needs
  • Develop and implement pipeline programming and student outreach initiatives for the IP group, promoting diversity and inclusion within the recruitment process
  • Review resumes and candidate materials making hiring suggestions to the appropriate lead partners
  • Coordinate and conduct in-person and virtual interviews, collecting evaluations and feedback from interviewing attorneys
  • Prepare detailed candidate profiles that highlight relevant experience, qualifications, and cultural fit for presentation to key stakeholders
  • Oversee onboarding for all IP new hires, including attorneys, patent agents, and technical specialists
  • Stay informed on current trends in the IP legal market, including emerging technologies, legislative updates, and salary benchmarks, to shape and optimize recruitment strategies
  • Regularly update IP job postings, offer letter templates, and job boards to reflect current hiring needs and market conditions
  • Maintain accurate recruitment data and provide regular reporting to leadership on recruitment metrics and hiring process
  • Proactively identify and implement best practices to enhance the candidate experience, streamline recruitment processes, and contribute to the firm's strategic growth

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of 6 years of experience in a professional services environment, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Legal recruiting and/or IP recruiting experience is strongly preferred.

Other Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing all aspects of recruitment, including lateral hires, patent agents, technology specialists, and law/college students
  • Self-motivated, proactive professional with exceptional attention to detail, strong time management, and organizational capabilities
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse individuals, while also demonstrating the capacity to work independently
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for events and meetings as required
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service to both internal and external clients
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in both independent and team-oriented settings
  • Adaptable and flexible with a willingness to adjust to changing priorities and demands
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate clearly and effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with ViRecruit and Workday is preferred, though not required

For positions in Chicago, IL, the salary range for this job posting is: $109,300.00 - $174.775.00.

For positions in New York, NY, San Francisco and Silicon Valley, CA, the salary range for this job posting is: $124,200.00 - $198,600.00.

For positions in Orange County, Ca, the salary range for this positions is: $119,200.00 - $190,675.00.

For positions in Washington D.C., the salary range for this positions is: $114,200.00 - $182,750.00.

For positions in Los Angeles CA, the salary range for this job posting is

$119,200.00 - $190,675.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
