College COACH Summer Internship: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Intern (NICU)

The opportunity

The College COACH summer internship is a paid program running from Monday, June 9-Friday, August 8, 2025. In addition to on-the-job training and work experience, the program includes workshops and additional development programs. College students will work 35 hours/week.

This intern will work in our NICU GraDS Clinic. Children who spend significant time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) after birth, due to preterm birth or complex medical problems, may benefit from special monitoring and interventions after hospital discharge. The NICU Growth and Developmental Support Program (NICU GraDS) provides ongoing medical and developmental evaluation, and support for these children and their families.

NICU GraDS is designed for babies who are born at less than or equal to 32 weeks gestational age, born between 32 and 35 weeks gestational age, and have other medical problems, or are born at term with complex surgical or genetic diagnoses. Patients in this program are assessed within three months of NICU discharge and then about every six months until they reach age 3. Services include evaluation by a neonatologist, physical therapist, child psychologist, and social worker. Our staff coordinates with your pediatrician, medical subspecialists, and your child's early intervention program about any concerns you may have.

What you'll do

The intern will provide support for clinic operations onsite on Mondays:

  • Interact with patients

  • Help schedule follow-up visits

  • Prepare rooms

  • During the other days of the week, they will be working with the Program Coordinator to prepare for the next week's visits. If time allows, there is the opportunity to work on some special projects with the program coordinator and the clinical director.

  • This is a hybrid position (2 Brookline Place (Mondays), Landmark 6 for other onsite work.)

  • You are an undergraduate college student interested in working in healthcare.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365

  • Good customer-service skills

Recruitment process

  • Internship opportunities: We aim to have all summer internship opportunities posted by February 28. They will be posted on a rolling basis as managers determine their availability to host an intern.

  • Resume review & interviews: Applications will be screened, forwarded to managers as appropriate, and interviews will be scheduled.

  • Offer decision: We will follow up within one week of your interview.

  • Onboarding: Those selected for the internship program will complete onboarding by May to ensure a smooth start to the program.
