Platform Architects are instrumental in advancing the architectural runway of a platform by leveraging their deep technical expertise to support one or more enterprise platforms. They develop an architectural vision that is aligned with business objectives to steer, execute, and sustain the architectural direction of the platforms to meet the organization's requirements.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Platform Architect with expertise in development, developer experiences, and a deep understanding of the Azure cloud environment. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. As a Development Platform Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-level solutions that meet Meijer's needs and drive business outcomes.

The Platform Architect works with and guides the organization's architects to build and promote enterprise standards, patterns, roadmaps, and strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives. The Platform Architect also plays a role in defining the future state IT strategy and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and practices.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation related to architecture, design, development processes, standards, and patterns.
  • Architect and Develop Solutions: Design and develop scalable, high-performance enterprise solutions using the .NET framework and Azure services.
  • Hands-on Development: Engage directly in coding, code reviews, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality software development.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, ensuring best practices in software design and architecture are followed.
  • Cloud Integration: Utilize Azure services to architect and deploy cloud-based solutions, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to evolve and promote the proven standards, patterns, and practices across IT at Meijer.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously improving existing systems and processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure solutions are robust, maintainable, and align with industry standards and best practices.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • 8 years' experience in platform design, development, implementation, and maintenance of architecture runway.
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Domain Architect, Platform Architect, Enterprise Architect or similar role with a focus on hands-on development.
  • Extensive experience with the .NET framework and Azure cloud platform.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques is required (cross-functional experience is highly desirable).
  • Experience maturing platforms through continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Technical team leadership experience.
  • Experience in Scaled Agile framework is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of software development architecture, lifecycle methodologies, deployment tooling, and practices for cloud and/or on-premises solutions
  • Drives development and solution standards across the IT department, which requires strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of Azure platform and building solutions with the services (ex. Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, and Azure Databases, AppInsights, etc.).
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Creates and manages development practices by leveraging best practices, techniques, standards, patterns, industry frameworks, and guiding principles
  • Monitors new technological advances in application development and information technologies.
  • Ability to drive the transformation and management of one or more technology platform architectures.
  • Identify and evaluate platform risks to define mitigation and control activities.
  • Expertise in one or more in technical platforms and technologies such as cloud-based platforms and distributed computing technologies
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of all components of a technical architecture.
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
  • Translates business needs into technical architecture requirements.
  • Ability to design simple, resilient, maintainable, and evolvable solutions.
  • Maintains the stability and usability of the platform across production and non-production environments.
  • Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and requirements for software.
  • Provides configuration assistance to developers.
  • Ensures platform alignment with the business strategy.
  • Breadth of knowledge in technologies and platforms.
  • Communicates IT requirements and guidelines to vendor partners.
  • Estimates financial impact of technical architecture alternatives.
  • Applies multiple technical solutions to business problems.
  • Quickly comprehends the functions and capabilities of new technology.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

The pay range for this position is listed below.

$116,000.00 - $184,500.00

This pay range represents the minimum and maximum base pay for the position, which is determined by factors such as market data, the qualifications required, the level of responsibilities associated with the role and other roles at this same level. Your specific pay rate within this range will be based on your experience, qualifications, and skills compared to the internal team you'll be joining.
