Description
SUMMARY Analyze the organization's digital business operations to develop solutions using the best available technology to support Hallmark Media as it relates to the delivery of digital content. Identify the features, advantages, and disadvantages of various technologies. Participate in project proposals, planning, estimates, buy vs build decisions, and statements of work. Review, analyze, create and modify programming systems including coding, testing, scaling, debugging, supporting, and installing to support the organization's business objectives. Familiarity with digital media, concepts, practices, and procedures is desired but not required. Identify and prototype best practices. Provide support and training, write technical specifications, and coordinate and supervise vendors on development projects, such as mobile applications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engineer and construct websites and business application software.
- Participate in testing and verification efforts for production releases, executing software unit test plans and verifying business User Acceptance Testing.
- Define product requirements and create high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/technology/platforms.
- Provide consultation on complex projects as the top-level contributor/specialist.
- Guide editors and developers through the project to completion.
- Plan for new technology deployment.
- Remain current with technology trends and new products; attend training, review technical publications, and maintain relationships with associations and trade groups.
- Use cost-effective cloud services to meet modern deployment, security, and DevOps practices.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate Degree or Equivalent work experience.
- Expert level knowledge of web/software/application development.
- Familiar with cutting-edge technology and frameworks.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in database development/management, specifically SQL Server and MySQL.
- Proficiency with content management system (CMS) development.
- Experience with several of the following technologies: JS, React, C#, CSS, IIS, Json, XML, TSQL, web API, jQuery/jQuery Mobile, Groovy, Python.
- Demonstrated knowledge and facility with software engineering concepts including client/server application, firewalls, databases, OS (operating systems), cross-browser development and AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- Experience working with 3rd party APIs.
- Demonstrated ability to think logically.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- 1-2 years' experience working with Authentication.
- Experience with video players and CDNs.
- Working knowledge of accessibility and usability best practices.
- Video experience is a plus.
- Some knowledge of workflow orchestration.
- Experience with version control, such as GIT.
- Entertainment industry or digital media software engineering/web development experience preferred.
- Experience with mobile ad technology and vendors.
- Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Team oriented and ability to work well under pressure.
- Self-motivated, flexible, hands-on approach and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work independently with some supervision.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Must be available for periodic travel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The salary range for this job is between $98,500 - $133,100 annually. Salary rate will take into consideration several factors including location. Hallmark Media is an equal opportunity employer.
