About the Job

The Associate Director of Partnerships is responsible for maintaining relationships between College in the Schools and their academic partners, including U of M colleges and academic departments, CIS faculty coordinators and faculty coordinator assistants, and high school administrators. Responsibilities include oversight/supervision of faculty coordinators and faculty coordinator assistants, maintaining collaborative relationships with CIS high school partner schools and their administrators, serving as a liaison to a portion of the CIS cohorts, and serving in leadership duties including representing CIS in University, state, and national contexts and convening the advisory board.

This is a hybrid position, requiring weekly in-person work on the U of M Twin Cities campus, and in-person participation in a percentage of the 200 events the unit hosts each year. There will be options to work from home as the schedule permits.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications the week of March 10 and will continue until the position is filled. The salary range for the position is $62,000-$72,000.

Faculty and departmental relations (35%)

  1. Ensure faculty coordinator's work is aligned with CIS program expectations and accreditation requirements, including hosting of ongoing professional development workshops and student field days. Work with Administrative Manager to assure faculty coordinators support instructors by completing course and program orientations, conducting faculty site visits and submission of site visit reports, and reviewing course evaluations to ensure U of M teaching and learning experiences for students.
  2. Assure that ongoing professional development workshops cover diverse topics including course content, pedagogy, assessment, and new developments in the field.
  3. Collaborate with CCAPS Payroll to manage academic appointments and special projects for faculty coordinators and faculty coordinator assistants.
  4. Collaborate with and support academic departments in their work to identify and recruit new CIS faculty coordinators and faculty coordinator assistants when there are transitions in the role or new courses are added.
  5. Train and orient new faculty coordinators and faculty coordinator assistants to their role and responsibilities.
  6. Develop and maintain faculty coordinator and faculty coordinator assistant onboarding and reference materials (Faculty section of the CIS Welcome site).
  7. Design and lead biannual and ad hoc faculty coordinator meetings.
  8. With Director of Dual Enrollment, provide faculty coordinators with cohort and course support, specifically when there are changes to curriculum or required texts.

Partner high school support (30%)

  1. Develop and maintain relationships with CIS partner high schools and their administrative and counseling staff, including:
    1. conducting administrative site visits to sustain relationships
    2. ensuring school/district compliance with U of M and CIS policies
    3. orienting new partners and new administrators to the partnership
    4. keeping abreast of changes in school policies, priorities, and culture
  2. Serve as the first point of contact for high school administration when there are questions about the partnership, including changes to course offerings, issues with instructors or students. Assist school partners and involve U of M colleagues, as appropriate.
  3. Develop and maintain administrative resources and reference materials for use by partner schools (Partnerships section of the CIS Welcome site).
  4. Conduct outreach to potential new high school partners to explain how a partnership with CIS would benefit students and teachers and integrate into their curriculum.
  5. Assist former CIS students with requests to receive credit recognition, including communication with faculty, and providing documentation, as needed.
  6. Work with Dual Enrollment team to create more advising resources for students.

Cohort liaison (25%)

  1. Serve as liaison to approximately 50% of the CIS cohorts, working with faculty coordinators, course advisory committees, and other staff to plan and implement high quality professional development workshops for teachers and student field days.
  2. Work with faculty coordinators to review CIS instructor applications and interview candidates. Ensure that faculty coordinators understand and consider the impact of the wide variation in high school policies, practices, and schedules on the quality and comparability of the U of M course.
  3. Ensure that course content, pedagogy, and assessment are addressed in workshops and through faculty coordinator teacher observations. Ensure that courses offered through CIS are consistent with the content, pedagogy, and assessment used in the corresponding on-campus courses.
  4. Keep apprised of academic departmental policies and practices that impact CIS.

Leadership in the field (10%)

  1. Represent CIS in University, state, and national contexts, on topics related to concurrent enrollment.
  2. Manage CIS Advisory Board recruitment and membership and convene CIS Advisory Board meetings (twice annually) to address relevant topics.
  3. Stay abreast of trends and developments in education, specifically around concurrent enrollment and the high school to college transition.
  4. Work with Director of Dual Enrollment to identify program policies and procedures to strengthen CIS.
  5. Participate in strategic planning to ensure program development, stability, and growth.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree or a combination of bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience related to concurrent enrollment.
  • Familiarity with K-12 and higher education systems and current topics in K-12 and higher education, including dual enrollment.
  • Previous work experience in secondary or higher education environments.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in diversity, equity, and inclusion and working with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to use office software and collaboration tools such Microsoft Office software, Google Collaboration Tools, and Zoom.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, cameras, microphones, and keyboards.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and serving a diverse community of learners in a professional setting.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree or higher in: education leadership, teaching and learning, curriculum and instruction, higher education, student counseling.
  • Experience in secondary or higher education teaching, advising, or counseling.
  • Familiarity with best practices for professional development and instruction.
