FlexStaff is seeking a Surgical Technologist for our client's team of dedicated professionals works collaboratively in a state-of-the-art environment to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality in all surgical procedures. We are currently seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our surgical team.

Job Description:

As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing support during surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, ensuring sterile environments, and assisting the surgical team in delivering high-quality patient care. Your expertise will contribute to the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, making a significant impact on our patients' outcomes.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare the operating room and sterile field for surgical procedures by setting up surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment using sterile techniques.

- Assist healthcare professionals in receiving, labeling, and verifying sterile solutions and medications as per established protocols, including support for anesthesia personnel.

- Verify patient identity, correct surgical site, and procedure prior to the commencement of surgery.

- Assist in moving and positioning patients for surgery while adhering to established safety guidelines.

- Engage in proper gowning and gloving procedures in a perioperative setting.

- Assist healthcare professionals with non-invasive skin preparation and draping patients for surgery.

- Anticipate the surgeon's instrument needs and provide necessary supplies during the operative procedure.

- Maintain an accurate count of sponges, needles, and instruments throughout the surgical process.

- Monitor and maintain surgical asepsis during all surgical procedures according to established guidelines.

- Prepare and apply dressings to incision sites; may prepare suture material as directed.

- Assist with the transfer of patients to recovery and provide nursing care as necessary.

- Care for and handle specimens taken for laboratory analysis properly.

- Participate in the cleaning of the operating room and replenishing supplies after procedures.

- Operate sterilizers, lights, suction machines, and electrosurgical units as needed.

- Engage in staff development activities and perform other related duties as assigned by the surgical team.

Qualifications:

- Hold and maintain a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

- Completion of an appropriate training program for Surgical Technologists in the military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard) or service in the federal government with relevant experience.

- Strong attention to detail, ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations, and strong communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a surgical team and adhere to all safety and procedural guidelines.

- Commitment to ongoing professional development, including completing 15 hours of continuing education annually.
